PHILOSOPHY
The tradition of the Brentwood Art Center, established in 1971, has always been the pursuit and achievement of high aesthetic standards. We are dedicated to an environment and curriculum that encourages self-expression, teaches traditional skills, reflects new and creative ideas, and is sensitive to the needs of the individual and to the dynamics of the group.

We believe that the learning process can be fun and stimulating for both student and instructor and that this philosophy creates an opportunity for each student to acquire fundamental skills as well as advanced concepts. Our classes are small and individualized, and the optimum artistic development of each person is our ultimate goal.

Our instructors are talented artists and educators who have a desire to inspire each student while focusing on the duality and the integration of process and product, concept and skill, creativity and structure.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Brentwood Art Center provides year-round art instruction for adults, teens and children. During the Summer Semester and Winter Break, we also offer Fine Art Day Camps for children ages 5-13 years.

Over the years, our students have met with great success when presenting their portfolios to universities and art schools throughout the country. Many educational institutions have granted credit in their degree programs to students who have completed courses at the Brentwood Art Center. Those wishing to obtain degree credit for their studies are asked to get approval for such an arrangement from their dean, registrar, faculty advisor or other official at their home institution.

The BAC has received commendations from the City of Los Angeles, the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, the California Art Education Association, and Free Arts For Abused Children.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Holidays, birthdays and celebrations are good times to introduce creative activities. We offer unique, hands-on, private art parties and workshops with individualized projects. Call the office for more details. Call the office for more details or email stacy@brentwoodart.com.

Children's Birthday Parties
You and your child will delight in choosing from a selection of imaginative art projects, and each guest will take home a finished art piece as their party favor.

Birthday parties are 2 hours long and are offered on Saturdays between the hours of 2pm and 4pm. Art projects take approximately 1.5 hours to complete, and the remaining time is used for refreshments, which are provided by the parents. We do have a refrigerator and freezer available for use, and gifts are best opened at home.

The fee for a birthday party of 12 children is $400 and each additional child is $20 extra. The maximum number of children that we can accommodate is 20. Supplies are purchased and prepared in advance for the reserved number of children. Therefore, last minute additions cannot be accommodated.

A $75 deposit is required to reserve your date. Our facilities are available for set-up 1/2 hour prior to the party. Parents are responsible for the arrival and departure of the children, and we ask that children wear “art clothes” and are picked up promptly. Please let the other parents know that we’re located at the corner of 26th Street and Montana Avenue.

The reservation and deposit must be made, number of participants declared, and the project to be completed must be chosen a minimum of 10 days in advance of the actual party date. Please call the office for more detailed information and date availability. We look forward to celebrating this special day with you!

ARTWORK STORAGE
Because our storage space is limited, students are asked to take completed work home as soon as possible. The Center is not responsible for artwork left on the premises or used for display, but every effort is made to protect it. Artwork will not be available for retrieval if it has been left longer than one semester.
