BFA University of Pennsylvania
Marc Kompaneyets is a Los Angeles based fine artist and writer/illustrator. Born in Moscow, USSR, he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts before receiving his B.F.A from the University of Pennsylvania.
His work, while being informed and inspired by European drawing and painting, seeks to apply those traditions in innovative, humorous and surprising ways. He is the writer/illustrator of The Squishiness of Things (Knopf 2005) and The Troll-Control Expert (self-published 2010). He is also the writer and illustrator of many yet to be published works, among them, The Discourses of Discombobules, the story of a crazed, ancient Greek philosopher, The Shadow, a 400-plus page, wordless graphic novel, and Zinnober, a graphic novel loosely based on a story by ETA Hoffman.
Marc is an adjunct professor at Santa Monica College and a senior lecturer at Otis College of Art and Design.
