Mixed Media (includes Drawing and Painting)
  4 - 12 years
Special attention is given to creative activities based upon a wide range of two- and three-dimensional projects. Painting, color, sculpture, printmaking, collage and drawing techniques are taught. A variety of materials are used including colored pencils, clay, foamcore, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, watercolor and markers. Supplies included.

Drawing and Painting   
6 years - Teen

Students work with a variety of drawing and painting materials creating aesthetic projects from a vast array of subjects. Color, creativity, perception and imagination are considered and encouraged
in a constructive atmosphere. Supplies included.

Art with Me 4 – 11 years with adult NEW
Experience creativity together as you work side by side with your child (grandchild, nephew, cousin) on aesthetic art projects using a variety of materials. Supplies included.


Cartooning   8 - 14 years    
Develop a personal style of cartoon drawing through the creation of comics, spot cartoons and other forms of humorous illustration. Emphasis is placed on line drawings with pen and ink. Originality and investigation of contemporary cartoon characters round out this course. Supplies included. Prerequisite: Drawing Fundamentals recommended.

Sculpture  10 - 13 years
Clay, wood, wire and many other construction materials are explored with creative learning in mind. Master sculptors as well as contemporary and ethnic sculptors will be studied. Students are encouraged to express themselves through abstraction and realism. Supplies included.

Drawing Fundamentals  12 - 15 years
Explore the fundamental concepts of drawing such as line, volume and perspective while working with a wide variety of drawing materials. Focus will be placed on learning how to see the world around us and translating this newfound vision into the two-dimensional world of drawing. Student furnishes own supplies. Prerequisite: None.

Figure Drawing   Teen, Teen/Adult
Fundamental skills, techniques, and concepts will be introduced. Charcoal, graphite, conté and other various materials will be used. Anatomy, proportion, line quality and volume will be emphasized. Fee
includes nude model. Student furnishes own supplies. Prerequisite: Drawing Fundamentals. Portfolio review required for intermediate and
advanced levels.


Fashion Figure Drawing   Teen/Adult NEW 10 weeks
This class offers an introduction into the world of fashion illustration. Emphasis will be placed on historic and current styles and trends as well as designs, fabrics, patterns and the creative process. Fee includes nude or costumed model. Student furnishes own supplies. Prerequisite: Figure drawing experience.

Painting  12 - 15 years NEW        Teen/Adult
Basic techniques are taught with a focus on developing skills and pursuing an imaginative and personal approach to the subject. Brushwork and analyzing value and color will be emphasized. Student furnishes own supplies. Prerequisite: Drawing Fundamentals recommended.

Photography
NEW 10 weeks
This class will start you on a new way of looking and developing your aesthetic photographic vision. Through slides, discussion, historical study and critiques, students will learn technical aspects of photography with the primary emphasis on guided viewing and creative camera work. Student furnishes fully manual digital or nondigital camera, film and processing. Prerequisite: None. Portfolio review required for intermediate and advanced levels.


Private Tutoring and Critiques
Private tutoring for all levels of students as well as private critiques for intermediate and advanced students and professional artists may be arranged. The fee is $100 per hour, supplies additional. It is
not necessary for the individual to be currently attending a class at Brentwood Art Center. Sessions will be scheduled on an individual basis. Sessions for groups of two or more students also
available.
