| Join us for a summer of
art making in one of Europe’s most beautiful locations, Lake
Como, Italy. Nestled just on the Italian side of the Alps crossings,
Lake Como has been a crossroads of history since Roman Times; two
hours from Milan and ten minutes by ferry from Bellagio, this colorful
town is full of northern Italian charm, culture, and cuisine.
Our travel abroad workshops are designed for people who are interested
in an in-depth studio art experience and can comfortably work in
the countryside. The program is open to the intermediate and advanced
art student as well as to the professional artist. Instruction is
given in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. A friend or
spouse is welcome as a non-studio participant at a reduced fee.
The program is three weeks long and offers instructional classes
five days each week, either in the mornings or afternoons. We work
in our studio or take excursions to draw and paint from the surrounding
landscape. During non-instructional time students are encouraged
to work on their own in the studio. In the evenings we present lectures,
view slides, and simply enjoy the wonderful town. Optional day tours
to neighboring towns and visits to private villas and art collections
are offered when available. Our four-star hotel is elegant with
air-conditioned rooms and cable television, a swimming pool, lakeside
dining and an English-speaking concierge. Best of all, our spacious
and light-filled studio is just around the corner from the hotel.
|
|
| At the end of the program all
artists are invited to participate in a group exhibition in
the town and later at the Brentwood Art Center in Los Angeles.
Wonderful long-lasting friendships are made on these trips.
Many of our students return each year to enjoy this enriched
learning experience. |

Program fee is $7,400 for double occupancy, $300 per room supplement
for lake view, $1,500 single room supplement. Instructional classes,
hotel, and two meals daily are included in this fee. Although all
efforts are made to match students with a roommate, we cannot guarantee
double occupancy. Airfare, personal items, one meal daily, beverages,
outside dinner parties, ground transportation and optional excursions
are not included. Students are encouraged to attend the full twenty-one
day workshop. Partial registration will be accepted only at the
permission of the Program Director. In the event the cost of the
program is prorated, there will be an administrative surcharge of
$350 per unattended week.
