Sally Jacobs, a Los Angeles artist, studied botanical art at Otis College of Art and Design and the New York Botanical Art Certification Program. She has taught botanical drawing and painting at Otis, the Los Angeles Arboretum, and The Getty Center. Her early education included a BA from Cornell University (biology), MA from Harvard University (science education), and an EdD from UCLA. In addition to teaching, she has developed educational curriculum and was a partner for many years in a successful software business. Since selling the company, she has devoted most of her time to botanical art.
Her work has been selected for numerous juried art shows throughout the country, most recently for the 2019 47th Annual Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper at Brand Library in Glendale. She has been written about several times by the Los Angeles Times — in 2018 several of her paintings were shown in the paper and on the paper’s online site. She has served on grant selection panels for the National Endowment for the Arts. Sally is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. She is a member of The Artists’ Gallery (TAG) on Museum Row in Los Angeles and displays her work there.
